Design Envy: Shoe and Coat Rack

Now that our daughter is starting to crawl, we've started to be more diligent at taking off our shoes at the front door. It means, however, that eyesore clutter of shoes when you first walk in the house, which I hate. My wife's solution is to run to Target or Ikea and get a shoe rack - bleeech! If we had the room, I'd love to have a solution like this coat and shoe hanger wall in a NY penthouse designed by the architect team at Manhattan Produce.
Meanwhile, we still don't have a great solution for our shoes.

Tree Decals by Enna

Originally created by hand for her retail store in Germany, these tree stencils received such interest after being featured on Decor8 that store owner Enna went ahead to make them into wall decals. Other designs included apples and dachshunds.

DIY Project: Baby Doll Rack

Creepy or cool? Recently, this baby doll rack was entered into Design*Sponge's DIY Contest. Since the entry, there has been a range of comments from “that totally creeps me out!” to “that is the coolest thing i’ve ever seen”. Regardless of the creepy comments, it seems this DIY project has generated interest with some manufacturers. Meanwhile, if you want to make your own, hit the link above.

Baby-Safe Beanbag Coffee Tables via West Elm

Just the other day, my wife and I were taking inventory of our house to see what we needed to change to make our home baby safe. You see, our daughter is just showing signs of wanting to crawl and our house just isn't ready for a crawling baby yet.
One item in our living room is a pair of glass topped side tables - the ones with just a window-pane thin piece of glass. These have to go, we said. But what do we get?
Serendipitously, I found these beanbag tables this morning. They're perfect. All I need to do is find out if you can zipper off the covers to wash them.

Everything Orange for Your Kid's Room

When we started Coochicoos, one of our driving mottos was "anything but pink or blue", and apparently the bloggers at Remodlista believe so too with a great selection of furniture and accessories for kids' rooms all in orange.
