My husband made one of these for our room since we didn’t have room for a normal bassinet and we’re just using our changing table’s pad as the mattress…he made it to fit perfectly and even softened the edges of the MDF with some fabric. it maybe cost a total of $20! you can do it too!

While not as chic, the Baby Bunk (http://www.babybunk.com/) is essentially the same thing, and actually available.

As for me, I’m looking into designing my own baby bed; perhaps out of carbon fiber and plexi glass.

I understand that the received wisdom regarding cot-death advises against the baby having loose covers and also sleeping in the parent’s bed… What stops the baby from drifting/rolling into the parent’s bed during the night and what stops the parent’s duvet drifting over the baby’s head?
