Babies only see contrast at first (black/white) the they see yellow, red, and green. So, these are the ideal colors for a nursery. Yellow is not depressing.

My mom is a proffecional interior designer, yellow is most DEFINATELY not a depressing colour. The calmest colours have a yellow hue to them. Think beige, and off white and light browns, or pale light greens with yellow hues to them. All these colours are considered very calming and soothing, unlike pink, which is considered to increase appetite just like red. Using colours which are too bright in a room often make a person tired, even bright yellows, greens, reds, blues, and etc.. The best choice for wall colours are pastel colours.

Sky,

I've heard that yellow is an appetite suppressant, so it's not a good choice for eating spaces. This is the first I've heard about it being depressing. If you go back to the original Part 1 of our post, I just love seeing the samples of all-white rooms with splashes of yellow. So beautiful that it's hard to imagine that it would be depressing.

Any other readers know about yellow being depressing?

Actually, yellow is supposed to be a depressing color and not recommended for any room - believe it or not, pink is recommended as a comfort color. No, I really believe that a little bit is too much when it comes to yellow.
