Kimochi Dolls Help Children Understand Their Emotions

Kimochis Emotion DollsNina Rappaport-Rowan calls her Kimochi Doll creations the "toys with feelings inside".  Inside each of the four Kimochis are emotions that can help children express and understand what they are feeling inside of themselves.  Emotions range from happiness, to hunger, to sadness, anger and sleepiness.  Even cranky, proud and frustrated are represented in little emotion buttons that can be put inside a Kimochi.  Word has it that child therapists are embracing Kimochis as a communication tool when working with children.  They're also pretty cute too.

Vintage Game Card Set

Vintage Game Cards from Evie S.

Play classic childhood card games with these vintage card sets from the 1950's. From Slap Jack, Old Maid, and Dr. Quack, I think these game cards might mean more to mom and dad than the kids.

Cardboard Projects by Mr. McGroovy

Box of Rivets by McGroovy'sIf your elementary school students call you Mr. McGroovy, then you're probably pretty popular and well-liked by them.  So making cool cardboard structures during art class is also one reason why Mr. McGroovy's Rivets was born.  These rivets work as easy and re-usable fasteners to help your kids build their own cardboard  dreams.  As you can see by the photos of some creations below, the rivets are a bit nicer than those unslightly strips of duct tape that you might use.  Visit Mr. McGroovy's for project how-to's on buidling castles, spaceships, pirate ships, lemonade stands, spaceships and more.

Digital Etch-a-Sketch

Yes, for those of you with kids hooked on video games, now you can get Etch-a-Sketch, a classic childhood toy, in digital format.  The controller has two knobs, and you can even shake it to clear the screen.  But, I don't get the reason for this - what's next - a digital Lite-Brite?  [via BoingBoing]
