Looking for inspirations for decorating your children's room - well many times, you'll find it in the most unexpected places.  These room designs are just 4 of 61 uniquely designed rooms at Hotel Fox in Copenhagen Denmark.  21 international artists from the fields of graphic design, urban art and illustration helped create fantasy-like getaways that make for a great stay.  I think these room designs are playful in a way that can be used for inspiration for a great kid's room or nursery design.

Taking a Family Holiday in Paris

From the Nov/Dec 2007 issue of AAA's Westways magazine, I came across a story about an American family from Los Angeles who decided to take their two children, ages six and eight, to Paris for the holidays.  Since the trip was planned a year before, an unexpected pregnancy during the year had them also taking their two-month old newborn with them.  If you ever had doubts of traveling to Europe with young children, and especially a newborn, I'm sure you can be encouraged by writer Richard Slayton's family travel experience.  While the couple missed out on the romantic dream vacation that Paris promises lovers, I think that watching your children play hide-and-seek in Rodin's sculpture garden or spending Christmas Eve Mass holding their hands in Notre Dame is an experience you'd cherish for a long time.

So where will you go this holiday season?  Having kids is no reason to stay home, is it?

A Modern Architectural Gem is Born in Kansas City

Time Magazine says that the new Bloch addition "at the Nelson-Atkins could make Steven Holl an architectural superstar", and from these photos they may have a case.  If you happen to be in Kansas City, as a resident or tourist, then pay a visit because I believe exposing young minds to great architecture affects them in powerful and emotional ways unlike any other creative expression.  One can only imagine the possibilities that could be born from a visit to the Nelson-Atkins.
